Are you an experienced support worker with experience of emotional and behaviour difficulties? If so I really would love to hear from you. I am currently recruiting for several full time support worker vacancies in the Preston area. The role will involve working with a specialist care provider who deliver education, care and respite for young people with significant behavioural difficulties.

You will be working in one of several residential units within the Preston area. Each home has a dedicated staff team of several support workers managed by a deputy and home leader. The shift pattern consists of a mixture of long days and sleep overs which are paid at the competitive rate of £30 per sleep-in shift. The rota's are organised on a 3 week rolling rota so you will know your shifts well in advance. This is one of the UK's largest providers of care and support to young people. This naturally comes with a number of perks including an amazing training scheme, access to your level 3 and 5 QCF diplomas in Children and Young People and a fantastic career plan should you wish to progress onto management.


As a support worker within a young person's service your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting children with daily living skills... this can include anything from cooking, cleaning to decorating the home.

* Supporting children out into the local community. This can include everything from cinema trips, meals out and trips to the theme park.

* The young people have often been through some very distressing experiences and this can often lead to challenging behaviour. It will be your role to support the young person during these challenging times and ensuring you take the steps necessary to try to reduce such behaviours occurring again through identifying distraction techniques etc.

* As with any other professional carer role, ensuring documentation is up to date and accurate is paramount. You will be required to create person centred plans and update everything from daily summaries to risk assessments.

If you have experience supporting vulnerable young people that would be advantageous, however if you have any experience working with children in general we would love to hear from you.
