Job Title: Sustainable Travel Co-ordinator

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000

Location: Thurrock, Essex

Department: Centre Operations

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Be the centre's local travel and transport expert, developing a detailed knowledge of local transport networks, services and key contacts within relevant transport organisations, supporting the Customer Services Manager in delivery of local travel/transport duties.
* Develop an understanding of the specific transport challenges facing the centre and an appreciation of strategic transport matters affecting the wider retail sector in general, working alongside the shopping centre's National Sustainable Travel and Transport Manager and other senior colleagues where relevant.
* Take ownership of the centre's travel plan, including the co-ordination of annual travel surveys, research and analysis of workplace travel patterns as appropriate (supported by the clients Travel Plan Champion), leading to the submission of annual monitoring reports to Thurrock Council to satisfy planning requirements.
* Lead on monitoring of transport facilities across the centre e.g. general condition of bus and rail stations, timetable information, cycle parking/shelters, Electric Vehicle charging points etc. reporting any faults through the appropriate channels as required.

Sustainable Travel Coordinator

* Awareness of various sources of transport disruption information, digesting and disseminating Information to staff, retailers and customers (in collaboration with centre's Marketing team) during periods of both planned and unplanned disruption, including local liaison with major roadworks schemes.
* Delivery of workplace travel planning at the centre, supporting staff, retailers and all other organisations to encourage employees to adopt a more sustainable form of transport.

* Contribute towards a reduction in single occupancy car driver trips generated by the centre, in line with the targets set out in the travel plan, and ensure such a shift can be demonstrated as contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and an increase in health benefits derived from active travel.
* Develop effective relationships with colleagues and retailers, assuming responsibility for any existing working partnerships with external organisations in the Thurrock area, to support implementation of their own initiatives to further promote the use of more sustainable forms of transportation more widely.
* Co-ordinate and deliver sustainable transport promotion events and initiatives in conjunction with the Marketing and CR teams, both locally and at head office.
* Ensure all projects and initiatives are delivered in accordance with the approved processes,
* timescales and budgets.
* Deliver update presentations to retailers and other organisations across the centre.
* Lead on formal consultation responses on behalf of the centre and retailers.
* Understanding of budget monitoring, internal processes for ordering and receiving goods and services in accordance with financial regulations and procedures.
* Maintain safe working practices in line with Health and Safety policy.
* Maintain a smart appearance at all times, adhering to dress standards and/or uniform policy.


* Experience and understanding of coordinating the impact and behavioural change surrounding travel and transport scheme with a particular focus on development project impact.
* A keen interest in the travel/transport sector and the complexities of the industry.
* Knowledge in dealing with key stakeholder and public in relation to travel related issues as result of disruptions.

* Strong communication and influencing skills to manage stakeholders and maintain the interests of the centre.

* Analytical skills to influence management levels and stakeholders with the ability to develop excellent relationships at multi levels.
