We have an opportunity for someone to join our hardworking and committed support staff team in January 2019. The position involves working everyday 8:30-15:30 with a year 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis.
Ideally we require someone with experience of working with children with special needs, but this isn't essential. The successful candidate will have a good sense of humour, a calm and patient manner, but have determination and resilience to make a difference.

The position is initially until the end of the academic year, but the chances are that it will continue beyond this date, either as it is or alternative deployment with another 1:1.

Responsibilities

* Providing day to day classroom support and 1:1 to the children and assisting with pupil behaviour SEN needs
* Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs
* Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
* Helping to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources

Requirements

* Qualified to Level 2 as a Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) OR have relevant experience/interest in working with children within an SEN setting or with Autism
* Have an understanding of the National Curriculum
* Have the confidence to address conflict and challenging behaviour, once trained
* Be willing to work flexibly and constructively as part of a team
