A primary school in the Leeds area is looking for an experienced teaching assistant who is passionate about working with interactive and engaging children and who wants to stretch their skill set. This role entails supporting a Key Stage 1 pupil with autism and will require personal care assistance. The school is based in the inner city.

You will benefit from a competitive rate of pay, holidays as per the school, an encouraging and motivating team to work with, free parking and a relaxing staff room to wind down in during break time.

Key Responsibilities Include:

* Delivering tailored tuition on a one-to-one basis or in a small group.
* Making sure that the pupil that you are supporting is able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity.
* Supporting the social and emotional development of your pupil, reporting any issues as necessary.
* Guiding and monitoring the pupil's progress.
* Carrying out administrative duties such as preparing classroom resources.
* Providing support outside of your normal classes, such as help during exams, covering TA absences or going on school trips.
* Undertaking personal care tasks where required to do so.
* Co-ordinating specific areas of teaching support once you have the right level of experience.
* Providing pivotal support to the teacher and other support staff.
* Maintaining a safe and healthy place of learning for the children.

The successful candidate will need to have:

* Experience working with autistic children
* Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis (advantageous but not required)
* A vibrant and organised approach to work
* Experience in a child-based setting - ideally Key Stage 1 in a Primary School
* The ability to communicate effectively with both children and carers/parents
* A reliable and honest manner

Benefits of taking this role:

* Parking on site
* Easy access via public transport
* Competitive rate of pay
* Holidays as per the school
* Potential to go permanent
* Long term position
