A pupil referral unit based in Rochdale have several vacancies working as a teaching assistant and as engagement mentor for new pupils arriving at the school. The school focus on students returning back to their mainstream schools are seeking placement in a new school. This is done through identifying barriers to learning and work with pupils on emotion literacy in dealing with social and emotional difficulties.
The school caters for students aged 11-16 from all backgrounds, trying where possible to reintegrate them back into mainstream school. We provide the following services:
* 6th day provision to pupils permanently excluded from Oldham Secondary Schools and Academies.
* Up to 25 hours educational placements and a minimum 5 hours off site home tuition for pupils whose psychological needs create a barrier to their attendance at a mainstream school
* Full time placements for out of borough difficult transfers
* Offsite outreach, reintegration support to pupils returning to a new mainstream school following a permanent exclusion
* Year 11 full time provision
* Permanently Excluded Pupils undergoing statutory assessment

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Manage behaviour day to day in classroom
* Support teacher in delivering lesson material
* Supporting with planning and preparation
* Offering clear and firm boundaries to pupils
* Working on a 1:1 or small group sessions
* Apply common sense to dealing with challenging situations
* Risk assess behaviour and the classroom
