Technical Manager

Randstad Engineering is currently looking for a Technical Manager, based in Caerphilly, for a worldwide engineering business. The salary for this role is £36,000 to £40,000 but this could be stretched for the perfect candidate.

Our client, specialises in the manufacture and supply of quality building materials, including its brand-leading steel lintels and an extensive range of plaster bead, metal mesh and building components. Based in Caerphilly, South Wales, they are recognised as being one of the strongest brands in the construction industry and supplies builder's merchants, housing developers and distributors throughout the UK and overseas with technically superior products.

We are recruiting for a Technical Manager based within Downstream Operations at our site Catnic. Reporting to the Technical Director, the purpose of the role is to be responsible for managing the technical Services Department who's primary roles are the production of lintel schedules and providing lintel technical support for Catnic's range of customers. Supporting the sales process and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:



* Ensure that the servicing of customer scheduling requirement is carried out in accordance with targets agreed internally and with the customers.
* Recruit, motivate, train, develop and organise the technical team, managing its performance and reward, to maintain an effective workforce capable of meeting its current and projected objectives.
* Drive change and improvement to ensure the department's staff and processes match the changing requirements of our customers
* Manage external engineers who carry out contract lintel scheduling for Catnic
* Ensure that operations, including those undertaken on the Company's behalf by third party service providers, are conducted in manner that fully complies with appropriate health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
* Monitor changes to Building legislation in partnership with the Product Development Department.
* Identify market requirements for current and future products
* Understand competitors' products and service

Person Specification/Requirements



* Educated to degree standard in a Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Applicants should ideally have experience of working in the Building/construction industry in a technical or operational role.
* Excellent communication skills and strong analytical ability
* The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
* The job holder will be expected to show sophisticated influencing skills and demonstrate analytical and planning ability, as well as a commitment to achievement of targets.
