Are you an experienced Technical Consultant who is keen to travel the UK and EU supporting multiple client sites? Do you have strong technical skills in C#, HTML, VBA and SQL and are able to build lasting and meaningful relationships with customers? Role Summary:

The post holder will be responsible for the successful installation of products and associated services into clients in the UK, Europe, Australia and the US (mainly in the Maritime & Defence sectors). The incumbent must deliver project activities within tight timescales and to high quality standards, responding rapidly to project demands and client requests for support. The incumbent must be able to lead the complex technical implementation services for Maritime or Defence clients including software installation, software configuration, software customisation, interface design/development, data migration, system replication, and the incorporation of security requirements.

The post holder is responsible for maintaining a high level of contact with existing customers, ensuring they receive sufficient technical support to fully exploit solutions. As with other staff within the global Services team, the post holder is required to be an ambassador at client premises.

As well as being responsible for the installation of software products the incumbent will also be able to advise the client on their technical environment requirements, configure and build interface and extensions, and will support the client in resolving any issues related to the technical provision of the software.

Together with all other members of the Global Services Team, the post holder will be expected to support the development of a leadership and organisational culture that encourages excellence and quality in customer support.


* Undertakes successful installation and migration of products and services remotely and on site for client's sites as required.
* Contribution to the software development and programming of custom solutions in support of products delivering integration of data flows, reporting enhancements, and/or specialised functions.
* Manage and resolve day to day problems and issues with the software, escalating as required to product or development resource.
* Report progress on technical activities to sector management, maintain and update technical installation details, project checkpoints and support log issues as required.
* Provide technical support for interfacing requirements with external systems ensuring the software performs effectively
* Escalate problems quickly to the engagement manager for resolution.
* Plan and arrange visits to existing and new potential clients, ensuring every client receives sufficient technical support.
* Develop contacts with Client IT staff, and other project staff within each account during the implementation and support phases.
* Appropriately communicating technical environment issues and will support the Client in resolving any issues related to the technical provision of the software.
* Produce both verbal and written reports on activities at agreed intervals, and whenever substantive actions are required.
* Provide support services to the service support desk as required resolving problems and fault reports - escalating systemic problems to the development and product management teams.
* Develop and maintain productive collaborative working relationships with other members of the team.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required:

* Proficiency and confidence in the full lifecycle of software development for small and medium scale projects.
* Excellent SQL Server programming skills (Transact-SQL) and strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server (2008 or later) administration and SQL development
* Experience of administration of Microsoft Windows server platforms including the implementing application software and configuration of IIS and web services.
* Strong ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and written
* Clarity of planning and management of delivery
* An effective interpersonal style focus on delivery and achievement

Highly Regarded Skills

* C#/.Net, Visual Studio;
* VB6 / VBA;
* HTML, CSS, JavaScript;
* SQL Server 2005/2008 Administration;
* SQL Server Reporting Services;

Desirable Skills:

* Advanced usage of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
* Experience of testing and documenting installations and their procedures
* Experience of continuous integration and automated testing tools
* Experience in the discipline of requirements gathering and their documentation
* Windows Server Administration;
* UK Security Cleared
