Randstad CPE currently have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Coordinator with heavy civils experience (value circa £300m) to get involved with a well known main contractor on a permanent basis. This role will be based in the Aberdeen. The project is due to start in Q1 2017.

Design Responsibilities

Temporary Works design falls within the scope of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations as such the Temporary Works Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that adequate co-ordination/communication takes place with the Planning Supervisor/Co-ordinator for the project.

Within the Design Process, the TWC is specifically responsible for:



* Ensuring that the Temporary Works procedures have been properly implemented.
* Work with site team to ensure conceptual design briefs are agreed, together with the information required, before proceeding with any design.
* Ensuring a Design Risk Assessment has been carried out and mitigation responses are known to all parties
* Ensuring that you have the correct design information on time. This information must be updated as the design progresses, and any changes communicated to and agreed with the Designers and Checkers.
* Ensuring that the assumed loads, constraints, etc. on which the temporary works design is based are the same as those which are imposed on site;

that the method of applying the loads will not impose forces additional to those in the original brief; that the foundations are adequate; that the designer has been informed of any changes, and that all alterations he deems necessary have been incorporated.



* Ensuring that adequate coordination/ liaison has taken place with the Planning Supervisor/Coordinator on design issues and information for the Health and Safety File.

Coordination Responsibilities

Assisting the Temporary works manager in the co-ordination of all Temporary Works activities. ensuring that all Temporary Works are adequately and safely designed. Constructed and used.

The TWC primary task is assisting in the management of the communication process between Designers, Checkers and the Construction Team.



* Agree with the Designers/Checkers and other Parties on the level of design check;
* Coordinate all Temporary Works activities;
* Ensure that a design brief has been established with full consultation. is adequate. and is in accord with the actual situation on site. ensuring all construction loads are considered
* Advise the permanent works designer of any temporary conditions or loads that should be considered in the permanent works design;
* Ensure that a satisfactory Temporary Works design is carried out;
* Ensure that the design is independently checked for:

* concept;
* structural adequacy;
* compliance with the brief;

* Where appropriate. ensure that the design is made available to other interested parties e.g. the structural designer, the Architect, the Resident Engineer, the Client's representative and the Planning Supervisor;
* Register or record the drawings, calculations and other relevant documents relating to the final design;
* Ensure that those responsible for on-site supervision receive full details of the design, including any limitations associated with it
* Ensure that checks are made at appropriate stages covering the more critical factors;
* Ensure that any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate action taken;
* Ensure that any agreed changes. or corrections of faults, are correctly carried out on site;
* Ensure that during use all appropriate maintenance is carried out;
* After a final check, issue formal permission to load if this check proves satisfactory;
* Obtain (usually from the permanent works designer) the criteria that aIlow the temporary works to be removed, the criteria for temporary loading, and so forth.
* When it has been confirmed that the permanent structure has attained adequate strength required by the design, issue formal permission to dismantle the Temporary Works.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential HND / Degree in civil Engineering

Desirable: Previous TW design experience, Autocad.
