Temporary Works (Designated Individual)
Tata Steel Strip Products UK is seeking a Temporary Works Designated Individual to join it's Project Engineering and Delivery team and help deliver an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects. Our projects are both strategically important to the UK Strip Steel business and in many cases high value and technologically complex.
This role requires a excellent understanding of temporary works processes, designs and procedures, and how they are applied in use. You should be a problem solver who can work with a large number of stakeholders to agree solutions and help teams achieve a common goal. You should also feel comfortable with data and basic data management tools, to be able to quickly share updates on progress.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain high standards of personal and team Health and Safety ensuring that:The working environment is organised, respectful, inclusive, healthy and appropriate for the work being undertakenOngoing engagement takes place with direct, indirect and contractor teams Manage input from multiple projects in relation to the TW requirements, competencies, training and on-site delivery.Effectively communicates and collaborates openly with vendors, internal management and other engineers/managers in the Projects and Design Engineering teamCollaborates in a cross-functional team environment to drive initiativesCoordinates resources, provide clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegate tasks where appropriateEffectively handle multiple priorities to meet all objectives and deadlines
Competencies, Skills and Experience RequiredKey RequirementChartered civil or structural engineer with minimum of 8 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction processes on site, or:Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in civil & or structural engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction process on site, or:Educated to HND / HNC (or equivalent) in civil & or structural engineering with a min of 15 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction processes on siteReceived up to date formal temporary works trainingIn depth knowledge of BS 5975:2008+A1:2018PAS 8811:2017 & PAS 8812:2016Will need to acquire an in depth knowledge of TSSP UK's Temporary Works Policy & ProceduresMaintain, audit and verify all TW Permits/Certificates on TSSP UK's Electronic Temporary Works registerNEBOSH Qualified to National General Certificate levelEngineering knowledge and understanding (ability to read & understand technical drawings and specifications)Experience of design principles, current codes of practicesExperience in a management and or leadership roleA demonstrated ability to act autonomously with regard to decision making within their area of expertise (ability to identify & agree competencies of proposed TWC's, ATWC's, TWS's, TWD's & TWDC's)Ability to verify / audit contracting companies temporary work proceduresHave a sound knowledge of Health, Safety and Welfare legislation, hazards and safe systems of work.
