Middlesbrough Borough Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our proactive Pre-Birth Team. We are committed to supporting families and children at the earliest stage of their journey, preventing future challenges and promoting positive outcomes.
About the Role:
You will be part of a team dedicated to:
- Providing early intervention and support to families identified as needing additional support during pregnancy and the early stages of parenthood.
- Working with families to address risks and needs, promoting positive parenting, and building resilience.
- Building strong relationships with families, offering guidance and resources to ensure their well-being and the well-being of their child.
- Collaborating with other professionals, including health visitors, midwives, and other agencies, to create a coordinated approach to family support.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of families referred to the Pre-Birth Team, identifying their needs and risks.
- Develop and implement individualised support plans, tailored to the specific needs of each family.
- Provide direct support to families through home visits, telephone calls, and group work sessions.
- Facilitate positive parenting programs and interventions, promoting healthy parent-child relationships.
- Advocate for the needs of families, ensuring their voices are heard and they access appropriate services.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.

- Exceptional Salary: £40,476 - £42,708 per annum (with potential for higher salary based on experience - £46,547 - £49,114) plus a 15% market supplement, totaling up to £49,114.

Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with families during pregnancy or the early stages of parenthood.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to child protection and family support.
