Are you an experienced Support Worker? Keen to work in the public sector? We have an excellent opportunity to work within a busy department of one of our clients based in Newport. Offering 22 hours a week across 3 days, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for their next career move.

Main purpose of the role:

To offer structured support to households who have been allocated to Newport City Council under the Home Office
Vulnerable People Relocation Scheme and been placed in (private rented) accommodation in Newport.


To act as a key - worker providing practical and emotional support, advice, information and advocacy towards the goal
of inclusion/integration in the community.

Responsibilities



*

To act as key worker for settled households who arrive under the Home Office Vulnerable
People Relocation Scheme.


*

To act as part of a team, building professional relationships with its clients, working towards non-institutionalisation and inclusion/integration in the community.


*

To collect families from UK airport, and accompany them to their allocated home in Newport
and ensure that all the necessary paperwork is in place relating to their accommodation


*

To provide assistance, advice, guidance, practical orientation, signposting and referrals on a
range of issues from education and health to employment, finance and welfare, enabling
household members to meet their needs, maximise their benefits and opportunities.


*

To arrange for households to receive briefings from relevant partners such as Police and Health.


*

To actively engage with key agencies such as the Housing Department, Job Centre, Health,
Education, etcetera and act as a key worker and/or interpreter as required


*

To develop 12-month personal integration plans for each household


*

To arrange Arabic translation when required


*

To work positively with landlords in order to sustain accommodation and ensure that the
concerns of the landlord are addressed in order to sustain accommodation for clients.


*

To carry out all administrative tasks in relation to own workload and participate in shared administrative work to maintain records in line with Newport City Council's Data Protection and Confidentiality Policies.


To be considered for this role you must have:



* Minimum 1 year experience of working with disadvantaged groups of people in general and refugees and/or
migrants in particular
* Extensive knowledge of the welfare benefit system
* Ability to speak Arabic (desirable)
* Access to a vehicle
