From there you can walk to the trendy Jewish District, Kazimierz with varied restaurants and bars that cover every possible music taste. In the summer head to Zakrzowek or Bagry - beautiful lakes just a shot tram ride from town and when winter hits head to the nearby Tatra mountains for ski season! Other tourist hotspots include the Schindler Museum, the Wieliczka Salt Mines and Auschwitz is also about 2 hours away on the train. For day to day living, Krakow is very accessible with large shopping malls, supermarkets and so on which gives the best of both worlds.
