job description

Are you a fully qualified teacher still looking for your perfect teaching role with the beginning of the Spring term now upon us?

Are you available for a long term teaching assignment within KS2 immediately?

If so, then we have the perfect opportunity within the London Borough of Redbridge that we would like to speak to you about.

An over subscribed Primary school, one that offers a true sense of belonging, is seeking to appoint a full time Year 5 teacher on a long term supply basis.

This post is ongoing and the opportunity exists for it to become permanent, should the successful applicant and the school come to an agreement after a successful supply teaching period.

Applications are welcome from both new and experienced teachers.

Benefits of the role are:

* The opportunity to consider a permanent role without the pressure of making a hasty decision
* A school that celebrates the diversity of culture, language and religion
* A curriculum that is varied, challenging and fun
* Being part of a school community that supports positive attitudes and continuous improvement
* Core values that include respect, happiness and integrity
* The opportunity to 'make a difference' immediately with enthusiastic learners
* The chance to exchange ideas with other teachers, which can lead to new and/or different ways of teaching

Responsibilities of the role include:

* Adhering to the school's policies and procedures
* Planning and preparation of work
* Providing pupils with necessary feedback, encouragement and support
* Contributing to a safe and secure learning environment
* Supporting the use of Teaching Assistants
* Meeting with pupils' parents to discuss their academic progress at parents' evenings
* Occasionally, you may supervise pupils during events and projects outside of the classroom such as cultural outings, field trips and excursions

Requirements of the candidate:

* You will need to hold UK QTS or be suitably qualified to teach in UK schools
* Be able to demonstrate the ability to raise standards
* To possess effective classroom management strategies
* To be open to the possibility of a permanent contract
* Having a DBS already on the Update Service or the willingness to complete a new DBS application
* Ability to communicate effectively with others

Should you not be a driver, the school is situated amongst a variety of bus routes, including those from the neighbouring Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

Long term supply teachers have the same teaching responsibilities as permanent members of staff. You will prepare lesson plans and teach pupils in accordance with the national curriculum. You will also be responsible for marking students' work and offering constructive criticism.
