With 281 support workers and 1,233 students responding to our latest survey, our Summer 2025 survey results demonstrate the ongoing progress we’re making in meeting the diverse needs of students at university.

improved student satisfaction with support quality

One of the most telling metrics is the quality of support that students receive. In the Summer 2025 survey, 88% of students expressed satisfaction with the support, up 1% from December 2024. Every rise in student satisfaction highlights how we're delivering personalised support that makes a real impact on students' university experience.

As one student shared, “Thanks to my one-to-one support, my academic writing has improved massively, alongside my time management skills.”

86% of students reported that support positively impacted their studies in Summer 2025, reflecting a 2% increase from 84% in December 2024.

This improvement is also backed by a host of direct student feedback, such as: “I am so grateful for all the help for my work and I would not be getting the grades I would be without the support they give me.”

increased confidence and independence

In addition to academic success, a key element of our student support services is fostering self-confidence and independence. In the Summer 2025 survey, 90% of students reported that the support they received helped them develop strategies to become more independent learners. Moreover, 96% of support workers said they build strong, positive relationships with students, which plays a crucial role in creating an environment where students feel supported and empowered to take charge of their learning.

As one student shared, “I’ve learned how to organise my time better, which has allowed me to keep on top of my assignments and meet deadlines with less stress.” This highlights how time management and self-discipline are crucial for building independence, helping students take control of their learning and reducing stress.

By continuing to provide tailored support that nurtures independence, we ensure that students not only succeed in their current studies but also develop skills that will serve them well in future academic and professional endeavours.

professional development: empowering our support workers

In December 2024, only 35% of support workers felt they were receiving adequate CPD (Continuous Professional Development). Based on this feedback, we immediately identified this as a high-priority area for improvement. By Summer 2025, the figure had risen to 47%, marking a 12% increase in satisfaction with the support and training provided.

The 12% increase in CPD satisfaction signals that we’re moving in the right direction. Since then, we've gone even further by enhancing our Support Worker Hub, introducing new resources, links, and courses designed to empower our support workers and further enhance their professional development. We've also had some of our recent CPD webinars certified by the CPD Certification Service. These actions will help drive even greater improvements in our CPD score over time, reflecting our ongoing efforts to equip our workforce with the best tools and support. It is important to us to not only receive feedback, but act on it.
