Support Worker

Qualified Social Workers - TLC Staff Team Lead
The Team Lead plays a vital role in:
- Upholding the integrity and safety of the care package.
- Fostering a supportive environment that enables communication, interaction, trust, learning, and improvement among staff and the individuals they support.
While not included in the staffing ratio, Team Leads are expected to:
- Be present and actively involved in the daily responsibilities of the staff team.
- Provide oversight and ensure the safety and well-being of the supported individual.
Effective communication skills are essential. Team Leads must:
- Adapt their approach to achieve the best outcomes for the individual.
- Set expectations.
- Monitor progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve the individual's experience and well-being.
- Support staff professional development, encouraging reflection, learning, and personalised support.
Team Leads must have:
- A proven track record of experience working with children and families in a statutory role, including case responsibility, frontline child protection risk assessment, and court proceedings.
- A comprehensive understanding of statutory Child Protection procedures and Court processes for safeguarding children, including knowledge of The Children Act 1989, Independent Reviewing Service oversight of Looked After Children (LAC) and Child Protection Planning, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), and Section 25 of the Children Act 1989 – Practical Law.
- A strong understanding of risk management theory, research, and procedures.
- A demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff, including addressing performance issues and supporting staff development.
- The ability to ensure team members have the necessary skills and training.
- A commitment to understanding an individual's journey from initial contact with Children’s Services through to adulthood, and familiarity with all associated teams, roles, and responsibilities.
Preferred experience/expertise:
- Management or long-standing senior Qualified Social Worker (QSW) experience within CLA, CP, or Court Teams, IRO, LADO, or as a Family Guardian.
- Expertise in areas such as Youth Offending, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Learning Disabilities (LD), or Autism.

Registered Nurse
The Specialist Nurse, as part of our Tailored Localised Care service, will play a key role within a multidisciplinary team providing therapeutic and clinical care and support to vulnerable children and adults.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all clinical care and support adheres to the NMC code of practice.
- Working closely with support workers to deliver holistic care that meets individual needs.
- Conducting and evaluating day-to-day clinical risk and mental health assessments.
- Completing and maintaining accurate medication records, ensuring safe storage and adequate supply.
- Overseeing nutrition.
- Managing de-escalation techniques when needed.
- Liaising with local authority contacts regarding clinical care reviews and attending relevant meetings.
- Maintaining accurate record keeping and submitting daily reports.
- Communicating regularly with other team members to enhance understanding of clinical needs and improve care and support.
- Providing a safe environment for team members to ask questions.
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Understanding and fulfilling personal responsibilities for the safety of children and vulnerable adults.
Essential requirements include:
- NMC registration.
- Experience in mental health assessments and clinical risk assessments.
- Understanding of medication management and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
Each care package will have unique complexities and requirements; the Specialist Nurse will need to review all reports and information provided by the local authority to fully understand these needs.

What is the difference between working for Randstad in a residential setting or Randstad Tailored Localised Care?
Often our TLC service provides staff teams that are dedicated to a specific individual, often at times of crisis. You will need advanced levels of experience supporting often challenging and complex behaviours at times in non residential settings this is also rewarded by higher rates of pay and increased levels of responsibility.

Do I need to have a driving license?
It is really useful if you can drive and have business insurance but this is not essential. There is always a need for drivers in our staff teams.

What increased expectations will there be of me?
All workers will undergo a mandatory enhanced induction to cover all expected elements of the support worker, team lead and nursing roles within tailored localised care. Working as part of the TLC team, we will assist you with:
- Enhanced skills assessment to understand your skills, knowledge and experience.
- Time keeping and punctuality
- Commitment for the duration of the support period
- Accurate and detailed handover information and reporting of the day's events to other staff team members
- Demonstration of knowledge of care plans, risk assessments and understanding of the person being supported
