Some people are morning people, others aren’t. Whether you wake up energetic and ready to begin the day or if you’re more of a ‘five more minutes in bed’ kind of person, a cup of coffee or your preferred hot drink of choice can help boost your mood and energy for the day ahead.

While coffee isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, for those that enjoy the odd cup or are regulars, read on to find out a bit more about our work-friendly favourites.

The caffeine in our coffee is a natural stimulant - it’s a fact. And it helps to wake us up both physically and mentally, making it part of many pre-work morning routines.

In fact, the UK now drinks approximately 95 million cups of coffee per day. You’re not alone if you’re reaching for a cup of coffee to help improve your alertness, feel less tired, increase energy levels or to just enjoy a warm hug in a cup in the mornings.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different types of coffee and everyone likes there's a little different to the next person (pumpkin spiced latte anyone?). We’ve picked the top five that you can easily pick up or create in your office space:

Espresso

This one just hits the spot. It's the fastest way to increase your productivity as it gives you an instant boost that will keep you going until lunchtime.

Americano

If you’re looking for a hit but a slow burning one, this is for you. It’s simply an Espresso with a lot of hot water - this way the caffeine is released at a pace.

Latte

We latte this one a lot. This is the most popular choice for coffee drinkers that helps to hide the unique bitterness of coffee that many don’t like. Lattes are made up of one or more shots of Espresso (or more, we don’t judge) topped with foamed milk. A tasty way to boost productivity.

Cappuccino

Now this one gets your taste buds dancing. Layered with deliciousness, Cappuccino’s are made with a layer of… you guessed it… Espresso, giving you that wake up kick, followed by steamed milk and topped with foamy milk. Needless to say, this will get you going in the mornings.

Mochaccino (Mocha)

If you’re not much of a coffee drinker but you’re still looking for a way to get that caffeine hit, a Mocha has your name all over it. Add a shot of Espresso and some hot chocolate powder and enjoy. For a little extra pleasure, top with whipped cream.

And if you’re really not into coffee, we have some other ways for you to kick start your working day that will help you perform better;

A good night's sleep

7 to 9 hours of sleep a night for most adults is what’s counted as “good” sleep. So if you’re not clocking those precious sleep hours and you’re in need of some tips and tricks to help you doze off, we’ve got five to share with you. Read more here.

Be active

Regular workouts can make a real difference in your energy level and mood. Just 15 mins in the morning can help make your day a good one.
