Following a £380m investment and a having secured the contract to install a new diesel engine production line, Ford had a requirement to recruit 250 production operatives on a 23 month fixed term contract.
The client had limited prior experience with large scale recruitment campaigns, and therefore required a service provider who could effectively manage the program with transparency, build a solid partnership with the internal HR and Operations team and deliver quality hires with speed and efficiency.

Randstad Inhouse Services developed a comprehensive time lined Implementation and Project Plan, following the Six Sigma lean methodology which formed the basis of the entire recruitment process. From initial candidate attraction, on-line application tracking, screening, pre -interviewing, SHL psychometric testing, planning and running assessment centres, planning and scheduling the intake dates and managing the offer and decline process. The project was supported by a dedicated
account team.
Randstad Inhouse Services, working closely with Ford to ensure business critical objectives were included, designed a bespoke online application system to prescreen suitable candidates. More than 5,000 applicants applied.
A bespoke automotive SHL mechanical comprehension test was then administered to assess the candidate’s suitability for the automotive environment. Successful candidates were then invited to an assessment centre which included dexterity testing, group exercises and a client interview. It resulted in a highly successful and collaborative
partnership, which was a key factor in the successful completion of the project.

Randstad Inhouse Services successfully recruited the required volume of production operatives within the set timeframe. Feedback from the client stated that the calibre of candidates exceeded their expectations and of a higher quality and skills expertise than they had previously managed to attract. Randstad Inhouse Services were awarded two further volume recruitment projects.
