We are seeking a dynamic and intellectually curious Qualified French Teacher (QTS) for a full-time, long-term temporary position at one of our partner secondary schools in the historic city of Cambridge. This role is ideal for a specialist who can deliver the French curriculum with both academic rigour and creative energy, ensuring students from KS3 through to GCSE (and potentially A-Level) develop a deep appreciation for the language.
Your Responsibilities
- Linguistic Excellence: Plan and deliver high-energy lessons that balance the four key skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
- Cultural Immersion: Integrate French culture, history, and current affairs into the curriculum to provide a holistic and engaging learning experience.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead Year 11 groups through their AQA/Edexcel specifications, focusing on exam technique, high-level vocabulary acquisition, and spontaneous speaking skills.
- Inquiry-Based Learning: Utilise interactive technology and authentic French resources to make language learning relevant to the 21st-century student.
- Data-Driven Progress: Conduct regular assessments and provide precise feedback to identify attainment gaps and implement effective linguistic interventions.
- Departmental Collaboration: Work within a vibrant MFL faculty to share resources and contribute to the development of innovative schemes of work.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in French or a related discipline.
- Near-Native Fluency: Exceptional oral and written French skills, with the ability to model accurate pronunciation and sophisticated syntax.
- Classroom Authority: A proactive approach to behaviour management that creates a safe, respectful, and highly participatory environment.
- Cambridge Standards: The ability to thrive in a high-attaining academic environment and differentiate for students with diverse learning profiles.
