Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The Role: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in advising, reporting, and controlling all commercial and financial aspects of projects and contracts. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and with the highest levels of customer satisfaction. This role also involves supporting the Quantity Surveyor in providing commercial expertise to maximise returns.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors, inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain.
- Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents.
- Produce formal subcontract documents, certify interim and final payments, and finalise subcontract accounts.
- Generate bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.
- Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
- Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts, including applications for payment and final accounts.
- Produce monthly reports for the Commercial Manager, such as cost and value comparisons and turnover forecasts.
Manage Information:
- Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with client engineers and subcontractors.
- Provide advice and support to the site team to optimise the use of contract resources.
- Support the Managing Surveyor with data input.
- Provide feedback to Estimators and Contracts Managers regarding contract pricing and projected profit/loss.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years in a construction-realted role
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to apply them internally, externally, and with our supply chain.
- Positive attitude and ability to integrate and play an active part in the Construction Team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines.
- Keen to pursue personal development
Desirable:
- Degree-qualified or equivalent, with appropriate experience and knowledge.
- Wide experience in the civil engineering industry with a reasonable degree of water industry experience.
