Have you been thinking about a career in education but aren't sure where to start?
Do you have the natural ability to make children feel safe, heard, and ready to learn?
Are you looking for a job where your enthusiasm is valued just as much as your experience?
If these questions sparked your interest, you might be the perfect fit for a Classroom Support Assistant role with Randstad Education. We are currently recruiting for Primary and Secondary schools across Sheffield that need proactive, energetic individuals to become the "extra pair of eyes and ears" their classrooms desperately need.
This is an ideal route for Psychology graduates, former youth workers, sports coaches, or parents looking to return to the workforce who want to gain school-based experience on their own terms.
The Role
As a Classroom Support Assistant, you are the backbone of the lesson. You aren't expected to teach the class; you are there to facilitate learning.
The Teacher's Right Hand: Helping set up equipment, hand out resources, and ensure the lesson runs smoothly.
Floating Support: Moving between tables to check students understand the task and keeping them focused.
Behaviour Support: Spotting low-level disruption early and using positive reinforcement to keep students on track.
Small Groups: Listening to readers or helping a small group of children with a specific activity.
Why Work with Randstad Sheffield?
Earn While You Learn: Gain paid, practical experience in a variety of Sheffield schools, perfect for your CV if you are applying for a PGCE later.
Weekly Pay via PAYE: We pay you every Friday through our own payroll. No umbrella companies, no hidden admin fees.
Total Flexibility: You control your diary via our app. If you only want to work Tuesdays and Thursdays, that is fine with us.
Local Opportunities: We work with schools all over Sheffield, aiming to find work near your doorstep.
Requirements
Transferable Skills: You don't necessarily need school experience, but you must have experience working with children or young people (e.g., Scouts/Guides, Summer Camps, Care, Coaching, or Babysitting).
Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can help you apply for one).
Personality: We need people who are proactive. If you see a child struggling or a mess that needs tidying, you jump in without being asked.
