We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Computer Science Teacher to join a high-achieving Secondary School in Cambridge. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a specialist who can thrive in a city known for global technological excellence. You will deliver the curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students develop the computational thinking skills required for academic success and the modern workforce.
Your Impact: Responsibilities
- GCSE Specification Excellence: Deliver high-impact lessons focusing on both Paper 1 (Computer Systems) and Paper 2 (Computational Thinking, Algorithms, and Programming).
- Programming Mastery: Lead students through the fundamentals of Python, ensuring they can confidently handle variables, data structures, and sub-programs.
- Computer Architecture: Demystify the "brain of the computer" by teaching Von Neumann architecture, the CPU's fetch-decode-execute cycle, and memory management.
- Logic & Data: Teach students how computers represent data through Binary, Hexadecimal, and Boolean logic, using truth tables to solve complex problems.
- Algorithmic Design: Guide learners in designing robust solutions using flowcharts and pseudocode, emphasising efficiency and logical flow.
- Full Teaching Ownership: Take responsibility for planning, high-quality marking, and engaging with parents to ensure students are tracked toward their target grades.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from experienced teachers or ECTs with a strong technical background.
- Curriculum Knowledge: A deep understanding of current UK exam board specifications (OCR, AQA, or Edexcel).
- Adaptable Pedagogy: The ability to differentiate complex coding tasks for students of all abilities, making the subject inclusive and exciting.
- Industry Awareness: A passion for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies (AI, Cyber Security, etc.) to add real-world context to your lessons.
