We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Computer Science Teacher to join a forward-thinking Secondary School in Huntingdon. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will be responsible for delivering the curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a primary focus on driving high achievement at GCSE level. The department is well-resourced and looks for a teacher who can bring real-world technical context into the classroom.
Your Impact: Responsibilities
- GCSE Specification Mastery: Deliver the full breadth of the GCSE curriculum, ensuring students are confident in both Paper 1 (Computer Systems) and Paper 2 (Computational Thinking, Algorithms, and Programming).
- Programming Excellence: Guide students through the fundamentals of Python and other high-level languages, moving them from basic syntax to advanced concepts like sub-programs and file handling.
- Architecture & Hardware: Bring the "inside of the machine" to life, teaching the Von Neumann architecture, the fetch-execute cycle, and the role of various CPU components.
- Algorithmic Logic: Teach students to design and refine robust algorithms using flowcharts and pseudocode, fostering the problem-solving skills essential for the digital age.
- Data Representation: Demystify how computers use Binary, Hexadecimal, and ASCII to represent everything from simple text to high-resolution images.
- Full Teaching Cycle: Take ownership of planning, preparation, and marking, while also engaging with parents to ensure every student is supported in their academic journey.
What You'll Bring to the Team
