We are searching for a forward-thinking Qualified Computer Science Teacher to join a highly regarded Secondary School in Saffron Walden. This is a full-time, long-term position for a practitioner who thrives on the rapid evolution of technology and wants to lead students from being mere consumers of tech to becoming its creators. Whether you're debugging Python scripts or exploring the ethics of AI, we need a teacher who leads with passion and technical precision.
Your Responsibilities
- Advanced Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach high-impact lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, covering programming, data structures, and computer systems.
- Programming Specialist: Guide students through practical coding projects, primarily in Python, helping them master logic, syntax, and problem-solving.
- Examination Excellence: Lead GCSE and A-Level cohorts through their specifications (OCR/AQA), providing the analytical tools and feedback necessary to secure top grades.
- Hardware & Networking: Teach the fundamental "under the hood" concepts of computing, from the Von Neumann architecture to the intricacies of network protocols.
- Digital Literacy & Ethics: Foster a deep understanding of cybersecurity, data privacy, and the societal impact of emerging technologies.
- Departmental Innovation: Support the integration of modern EdTech across the school and lead extracurricular initiatives like "Girls Who Code" or e-sports teams.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is a mandatory requirement for the role.
- Subject Expertise: A degree in Computer Science, ICT, or an engineering-related field, with a strong grasp of the National Curriculum.
- Technical Fluency: Hands-on experience with at least one high-level programming language and a passion for staying current with industry trends.
