- Safety & Wellbeing: Maintain a secure and respectful learning environment, following all safeguarding and behavior policies.
- Adaptability: Be prepared to cover a wide range of subjects, from History and English to Science and PE, with a "can-do" attitude.
- Collaboration: Liaison with the school's cover manager and department heads to ensure a smooth transition between lessons.
- Reporting: Provide a brief summary of the lesson for the returning teacher, noting student achievements or any issues encountered.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience leading groups of young people (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring, or as a classroom assistant).
- Confidence: A professional and authoritative presence to effectively manage a classroom of secondary-age students.
- Communication: Excellent verbal skills to deliver instructions clearly and engage with staff and pupils.
- Resilience: The ability to handle unexpected situations with a calm and solution-focused mindset.
- Education: A degree is preferred, but we welcome applications from those with significant relevant leadership experience.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).

- Total Flexibility: Work on your own terms-perfect for individuals with other commitments or those exploring a career change.
- Competitive Pay: £120 - £150 per day, depending on your background and experience.
- No "Take-Home" Work: All lessons are planned for you; your responsibility ends when the school bell rings.
- Diverse Experience: Gain exposure to different school cultures and teaching styles across Bury St Edmunds.
