Mildenhall
Are you a confident, adaptable individual looking for a flexible role that offers variety and excitement every single day?
Do you have the presence to lead a classroom and the communication skills to keep students on task, even in subjects outside your specialism?
Are you looking for a role in Mildenhall that allows you to gain valuable classroom experience without the demands of planning and marking?
If you are a graduate, an aspiring teacher, or an experienced professional looking for a new challenge in education, we want to hear from you!
We are currently seeking Cover Supervisors and General Cover Teachers to support several vibrant Secondary Schools across Mildenhall. This is a highly flexible role-whether you are looking for full-time consistency or just a few days a week to fit around your schedule. You will be the "safe pair of hands" that schools rely on to ensure learning continues smoothly when regular teachers are absent.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Management: Lead pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects, ensuring students stay focused, respectful, and on-task.
- Instructional Support: Clearly explain the work set by the absent teacher and provide guidance to students as they complete their activities.
- Positive Environment: Maintain a productive learning atmosphere by implementing the school's behaviour policy fairly and consistently.
- Problem Solving: Think on your feet to resolve minor classroom issues and ensure all students feel supported in their work.
- Collaboration: Work alongside Teaching Assistants and department heads to ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils.
- Feedback: Provide brief, helpful notes for the returning teacher regarding student progress and any notable classroom events.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience working with groups of children or teenagers (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring, or school support).
- Confidence: A strong, professional presence and the ability to command respect in a classroom setting.
- Adaptability: A "can-do" attitude and the willingness to cover any subject, from Science to Humanities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with both students and school leadership.
- Education: A degree is preferred, but we welcome applications from those with significant relevant experience in education or training.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
What We Offer
- Flexible Working: Choose the days you want to work-ideal for balancing other commitments.
- Competitive Pay: £120 - £150 per day, depending on experience.
- Variety: Experience different school environments and departments across Mildenhall.
- No Planning/Marking: All work is pre-set; you simply lead the delivery and manage the room.
- Career Foundation: The perfect stepping stone for those considering a career in teaching (PGCE/School Direct).
- £300 Refer A Friend bonus scheme.
