Mildenhall & Surrounding Areas
Are you a natural leader looking for a role where no two days are ever the same?
Do you have the confidence to step into a classroom, take the lead, and ensure that students remain productive even when their regular teacher is away?
If you are a graduate, an aspiring teacher, or a professional with experience managing groups of young people, this is your chance to gain high-volume classroom experience in Mildenhall with total flexibility.
The Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you are the backbone of the school's daily operations. You won't be expected to plan lessons or mark homework; instead, you are there to facilitate pre-set work and manage the classroom environment.
- Lead the Room: Take charge of classes across various subjects, ensuring students stay focused and follow the lesson plan left by the department.
- Support & Guide: Assist students with their enquiries, helping them understand the tasks at hand and providing the encouragement they need to succeed.
- Uphold Standards: Maintain a positive and safe learning atmosphere by consistently applying the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.
- Collaborative Success: Work closely with school staff and provide essential feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress.
Why This is Right for You
- Ultimate Flexibility: You decide when you work. Whether you want a full-time schedule or just a couple of days a week, we work around you.
- Zero Planning: All lessons are prepared in advance by the school; your focus remains entirely on student engagement and classroom management.
- Diverse Experience: Build your CV by working in different secondary schools across Mildenhall, experiencing various teaching styles and cultures.
- Pathway to Teaching: This is the perfect stepping stone for anyone considering a PGCE or School Direct program.
What You'll Need
- Presence: The ability to command a classroom with a professional and authoritative approach.
- Adaptability: A "can-do" attitude and the willingness to cover subjects ranging from English and Drama to Science and PE.
- Background: Previous experience in a leadership or support role with young people (e.g., coaching, youth work, or military instruction).
- Clearance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one).
