The Role: Cover Supervisor
As a Cover Supervisor, you are essential to the smooth running of our school. You will step into classrooms when teachers are absent, ensuring that students remain focused, on task, and engaged with the pre-set curriculum. This is a dynamic role that requires confidence, excellent classroom management, and a genuine interest in young people. Core Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across all key stages and subjects, managing the lesson dynamics effectively.
- Deliver pre-prepared tasks and instructions clearly to groups of students.
- Maintain excellent classroom behaviour and discipline according to the school's established policies.
- Encourage students to complete the work set, supporting their focus and independent study.
- Respond to routine questions and provide non-specialist assistance where necessary.
- Report back on the lesson progress and any significant student issues to the appropriate teacher or Head of Department.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students under your supervision.

- A calm, confident, and authoritative presence that commands respect from students.
- Outstanding communication and behaviour management skills.

- Strong literacy and numeracy skills (evidenced by qualifications or experience).
- A professional and proactive approach to supporting educational needs.
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is highly advantageous.
- A demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
