The Role: Making an Immediate Impact in English Education
A fantastic opportunity is available for a proactive and committed QTS English Teacher to join a well-established English department at a respected Secondary School in Blackburn on a temporary contract or supply basis (e.g., covering a long-term absence or maternity leave).
This role is crucial to maintaining the quality and continuity of student education. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding English lessons, contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and challenging learning experience that promotes high standards of literacy and critical analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature, ensuring all students are effectively supported throughout the contract period.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing clear feedback that aligns with the school's standards.
- Cultivate a dynamic classroom environment, maintaining high standards of behavior and a positive learning culture.
- Collaborate effectively with department colleagues regarding lesson handovers, resources, and progress updates.
- Adhere to school policies, contributing positively to the day-to-day rhythm of the school.
Requirements
- Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, alongside a relevant degree in English or a closely related field.
- Proven experience teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
- Strong adaptability and organizational skills to pick up existing schemes of work quickly.
- An inspiring presence with excellent behavioral management skills.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
