The Role: Teacher of English
This crucial role involves inspiring students in the study of English Language and English Literature from their early secondary years through to examination level. The successful candidate will foster high expectations for every student's written, spoken, and analytical skills, preparing them academically and intellectually for their future pathways.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, rigorous, and challenging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), ensuring high levels of engagement and progress.
- Mark and assess student work promptly, providing detailed, constructive, and actionable feedback that addresses misconceptions and motivates improvement.
- Differentiate learning experiences effectively to support the needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and high-ability learners.
- Contribute to the departmental enrichment programme, such as running debate clubs, literary societies, or supporting theatre trips.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and share outstanding resources, maintain assessment standards, and contribute to the department's strategic goals.
- Maintain a well-ordered, motivating, and literacy-rich classroom environment.
- Engage actively with parents/carers regarding student achievement, behavior, and opportunities for home support.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a highly capable and enthusiastic colleague ready to immerse themselves in our school community.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in English or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrable success in teaching the current GCSE English Language and Literature specifications.
- An educator who is passionate about improving core literacy skills across the age range.
- Highly proficient in classroom technology and comfortable integrating digital tools to enhance learning.
- A proactive approach to subject development, curriculum design, and sharing innovative teaching practice.
- Excellent organisational skills, a positive attitude, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
- A commitment to teaching the full 11-16 age range is essential, with the opportunity for A-Level teaching for suitable candidates.
