The Role: Teacher of English
This role involves teaching the English curriculum primarily at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). You will be expected to deliver high-quality, memorable lessons that ensure all students, regardless of their starting point, make significant progress. The position demands a passion for both the literary classics and contemporary forms of communication, preparing students for success in examinations and in life.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute challenging and engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature to pupils aged 11-16.
- Assess and provide detailed, constructive feedback on student work (both written and oral) in line with departmental policies and examination requirements.
- Track individual student progress meticulously, using data analysis to inform instruction and implement timely, targeted interventions.
- Actively contribute to the development, review, and improvement of schemes of work and departmental resources.
- Maintain impeccable standards of classroom management, ensuring a productive, respectful, and focused learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to share pedagogical approaches, moderate assessments, and ensure consistency across the key stages.
- Participate fully in the school's continuing professional development (CPD) programme and undertake necessary duties related to the role (e.g., supervising form time, attending parents' evenings).
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated professional with a flair for teaching and a commitment to student success.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a specialist degree in English or a related humanities field are mandatory.
- Significant, proven experience teaching both GCSE English Language and English Literature.
- An educator with a strong focus on improving academic writing and sophisticated reading comprehension skills.
- Highly proficient in using a variety of teaching methods to cater to mixed-ability classes.
- Demonstrates exceptional subject knowledge and is able to convey complex ideas with clarity and enthusiasm.
- A reflective practitioner who is eager to take on feedback and continuously refine their teaching craft.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
