TasksAs a Children's Support Worker, you'll be instrumental in providing a safe and supportive space for children. Your responsibilities will include:
- Offering compassionate support to children with diverse needs, including emotional and behavioural challenges, autism, and learning disabilities.
- Assisting children in developing essential life skills and enhancing their overall well-being.
- Implementing personalized care plans and behaviour management strategies.
- Fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
- Maintaining accurate records of progress, incidents, and observations.
- Collaborating with colleagues, families, and external agencies for holistic care.
- Responding to challenging behaviours with patience, professionalism, and understanding.
- Upholding the highest standards of care and adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures.
To excel in this role, you'll ideally possess:
- A valid full driving licence and a reliable vehicle.
- Essential experience in Residential Children's Homes and supporting children with childhood trauma.
- Flexibility to travel up to an hour to Gateshead, Sunderland, Newcastle, or Durham, and availability for day and night shifts.
- A commitment to working at least 3 shifts per week.
- Proof of your Right to Work in the UK.
- Up-to-date mandatory training certificates, PMVA training, and an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
- The ability to provide employment references covering the last 3 years.
- Patience, empathy, and strong childcare experience.
- Knowledge of child protection and behaviour management.
