The Role:
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, management, and delivery of Physical Education and sport throughout the school. The Head of PE will be an inspirational figure, managing departmental staff, overseeing curriculum development, and driving the school's fixture list and competitive success.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive, long-term vision for PE and School Sport.
- Curriculum Management: Oversee the planning, teaching, and assessment of the PE curriculum across all age groups.
- Staff Management: Lead, mentor, and line-manage the PE department staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and coaching.
- Team Sports: Organise and manage the school's sports fixtures, competitive teams, and external representation, potentially coaching key male sports teams.
- Resource Allocation: Manage the departmental budget, equipment, and maintenance of sports facilities.
- Promote Well-being: Champion physical health, fitness, and active participation among all students.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to health, safety, and safeguarding regulations.
- Communication: Report regularly to the Senior Leadership Team and communicate effectively with parents and external sports bodies.
What We're Looking For
We require a highly motivated and experienced male leader with a passion for educational excellence and sports achievement.
- A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
- Significant experience teaching PE at a senior level, with proven departmental leadership experience.
- Exceptional organisational and administrative skills.
- A clear understanding of current best practices in sports coaching and PE pedagogy.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire both staff and students.
- Proven success in coaching and managing school sports teams, preferably in core male sports.
- A strong commitment to inclusive participation and the pastoral care of students.
