The Role: History Teacher

As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering an engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 (GCSE), and potentially Key Stage 5 (A-Level). You will encourage students to develop a rigorous understanding of historical concepts, analyse sources critically, and articulate complex arguments clearly.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver stimulating and differentiated History lessons that cater to the needs of all learners and promote high levels of attainment.
• Teach a broad and diverse range of historical periods and themes, ensuring full coverage of the curriculum.
• Assess, record, and report on the progress, development, and attainment of students, providing constructive and timely feedback.
• Contribute to the development of departmental schemes of work, resources, and assessment materials.
• Maintain a positive and intellectually curious learning environment in the classroom.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as history clubs, school trips, and educational visits to enhance the student experience.
• Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues regarding student progress and welfare.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a specialist who is passionate about History and dedicated to nurturing curiosity, analytical skills, and a global perspective in our students.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualifications.
• A degree in History or a closely related academic subject.
• Proven ability to teach History effectively across all secondary key stages (KS3, KS4 required; KS5 desirable).
• Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for historical inquiry.
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills, with the ability to maintain a purposeful learning environment.
• A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the curriculum.
• The desire to collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the department's continuous improvement.
