About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional History specialist to teach across the Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and potentially Key Stage 5 (A-Level) curriculum. You will be responsible for creating engaging and high-impact lessons that inspire students to understand the complex tapestry of local, national, and global history. We are looking for a teacher who can employ diverse pedagogical approaches to cater to all learning styles and abilities, fostering critical thinking, source analysis, and effective essay writing skills.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons across the full age and ability range (KS3-KS5).
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, using data analysis to inform future planning and intervention strategies.
- Develop and adapt Schemes of Work and curriculum materials to ensure they are relevant, challenging, and meet the requirements of the national curriculum and examination specifications.
- Establish a positive and stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation, debate, and a deep appreciation for historical inquiry.
- Contribute to the wider life of the History department, including attending departmental meetings, sharing resources, and participating in quality assurance activities.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students, adhering to the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participate in the school's performance management cycle and engage actively in professional development and training.
- Set and mark homework, classwork, and examinations in line with departmental and school policies.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, with a relevant degree in History or a related field.
- Proven ability to teach History effectively across KS3, GCSE, and/or A-Level.
- A comprehensive and secure knowledge of both British and World History.
- Expertise in teaching historical skills, including source analysis, causation, and essay structuring.
- Outstanding classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
- Highly organised, proactive, and committed to working effectively within a team.
- A commitment to using technology to enhance the teaching and learning of History.
