- Evaluate and mark student assignments promptly and accurately, providing feedback that aids the development of analytical essay writing and source analysis skills.
- Maintain an effective, inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable debating ideas, examining evidence, and engaging with challenging content.
- Collaborate closely with the existing department team regarding current schemes of work, resource use, and student intervention strategies.
- Adhere strictly to all school policies, including safeguarding procedures and expected standards of professional conduct.
Candidate Profile
- Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, along with a relevant degree in History, Geography, or a related Humanities discipline.
- Proven experience teaching at least two core Humanities subjects across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is highly desirable.
- Strong adaptability and organisational skills required to quickly integrate into the department and pick up existing cover work.
- Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
Benefits of the Role
- A competitive daily rate of £150 - £220, paid efficiently for the duration of your assignment.
- The chance to work within a dynamic and academically-focused Humanities department in the historic Cambridge area.
- Professional flexibility and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a new school setting.
