This is a vital role focused on providing educational continuity and maintaining high academic standards, especially through the crucial Year 6 preparations. You will be responsible for effective classroom management, delivering pre-planned, quality lessons, and accurately monitoring pupil progress.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Mastery: Confidently deliver lessons across the full Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, including core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and foundation subjects (e.g., History, Geography, Art).
Assessment Awareness: Understand the importance of assessment for learning (AfL) and provide clear feedback to pupils. Be prepared to support Year 6 classes, particularly during the lead-up to standardised assessments.
Behaviour Management: Implement strong, fair, and consistent behaviour management strategies suitable for older primary pupils, maintaining a structured learning environment.
Adaptability & Reliability: Demonstrate exceptional reliability and punctuality, and adapt swiftly to new year groups, subject topics, and school policies with minimal preparation time.
Professional Engagement: Communicate professionally and effectively with school staff, including Teaching Assistants, to ensure the day's objectives are met.
Safeguarding: Maintain a rigorous and unwavering commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
Essential Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must hold Qualified Teacher Status relevant to the UK.
Experience: Recent and demonstrated experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6). Knowledge of SATS preparation strategies is advantageous.
DBS: A current, clear Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one immediately through Randstad).
