The Role: General Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
This is an excellent opportunity to join our dedicated support team, focusing on providing general academic and pastoral assistance across various departments, primarily for students requiring targeted literacy, numeracy, and organizational support. You will be crucial in ensuring students fully access the curriculum and thrive within the mainstream setting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support to students who may need assistance with understanding instructions, completing tasks, or staying focused.
- Lead small-group interventions focused on developing core skills, particularly literacy and numeracy, as directed by the class teacher.
- Assist in preparing and adapting learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students in the classroom.
- Support students' organizational skills and help them manage their materials, homework, and deadlines effectively.
- Work closely with teaching staff to monitor student progress, report on engagement, and identify areas requiring further intervention.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment, reinforcing positive behavior and encouraging self-management.
- Support the school's pastoral system, offering emotional support and guidance to vulnerable students when necessary.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a highly motivated, adaptable, and compassionate individual with a genuine commitment to supporting young people's educational attainment.
- Proven experience working with young people in a learning environment, ideally at the secondary level.
- Excellent core literacy and numeracy skills (equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above).
- The ability to build immediate rapport and trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Flexibility and initiative to respond to the varying demands of different classroom settings and subjects.
- A proactive approach to supporting learning, recognizing when to step in and when to encourage independence.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a resilient mindset when facing complex student needs or challenging behavior.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
