An exciting short-term, high-impact opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Music Teacher to join a welcoming Secondary School in Thetford. This role is a full-time commitment starting immediately after the February 2026 half-term and running through to the Easter break. We are looking for a specialist who can maintain high standards of musical education across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring students remain engaged and on track during this busy spring term. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Dynamic Instruction: Deliver high-quality Music lessons across KS3 and KS4, covering performance, composition, and listening skills.
- Exam Support: Provide targeted support for GCSE Music students, assisting with coursework components and practical performance preparation.
- Inclusive Classroom: Ensure that Music is accessible to all students by differentiating tasks and utilising various genres and technologies to spark interest.
- Ensemble Leadership: Facilitate and encourage extra-curricular musical activities, such as lunch-time clubs or rehearsals, to foster a school-wide love for music.
- Departmental Synergy: Work closely with the Performing Arts faculty to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
- Assessment: Monitor and record student progress during this half-term block, providing constructive feedback to help students refine their skills.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is mandatory.
- A degree in Music or a closely related subject.
- Proven experience teaching the Music curriculum within a UK Secondary School.
- Proficiency in at least one instrument (and ideally a working knowledge of classroom instruments like keyboard and guitar).
- Strong classroom management skills and a proactive, energetic teaching style.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
