Roles & Responsibilities
The Teaching Assistant will hold a crucial position supporting inclusive education:
EAL Support: Implement specific language and vocabulary strategies to aid pupils learning English as an additional language, supporting their full curriculum access.
Complex SEN: Provide direct, sensitive support to pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), adapting resources under the direction of the Class Teacher.
Pastoral Care: Act as a key source of pastoral support, helping pupils manage their emotions, social interactions, and daily routines.
Classroom Logistics: Efficiently manage all classroom resources, technology setup, and preparation for practical and creative lessons.
Data Recording: Assist the teacher by observing and recording specific attainment data and behavioural incidents accurately for review.
Supervision: Maintain vigilant supervision of pupils during lesson time, breaks, and movement around the school site, upholding high safeguarding standards.
Requirements
The school requires applicants to demonstrate:
Qualification: An NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or an equivalent) is essential.
Experience: Proven experience working in a large, urban or multi-cultural primary school setting.
Knowledge: Familiarity with strategies for supporting EAL learners and basic knowledge of common SEN needs.
Resilience: High energy levels, adaptability, and emotional resilience to meet the demands of a busy classroom environment.
Compliance: Must be willing to apply for or possess a current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
