Roles & Responsibilities
The Teaching Assistant will be expected to undertake varied and vital support duties:
Targeted Literacy & Numeracy: Plan and lead focused intervention sessions for pupils needing support in core subjects, monitoring progress closely.
Behaviour Management: Provide consistent pastoral and behavioural support across the classroom and during unstructured times (e.g., break duties).
Resource Innovation: Assist with the design and maintenance of engaging, innovative classroom displays and multi-sensory learning resources.
Outdoor Learning: Facilitate structured outdoor learning activities, ensuring pupil safety and maximum engagement with the environment.
Assessment Assistance: Support the Class Teacher during formal assessment periods, helping to accurately record and document pupil performance.
SEN Support: Provide dedicated support to pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with professional guidance.
Requirements
The school requires applicants to meet the following:
Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or an equivalent qualification) is essential.
Experience: Recent, relevant experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 in a UK primary setting.
Skills: Exceptional communication and listening skills, with proficiency in English and Maths suitable for classroom support.
Attributes: High levels of personal resilience, energy, and a patient, nurturing approach to challenging situations.
Compliance: Must be willing to apply for or possess a current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
