A rapidly growing horticultural production operation is seeking an experienced and proactive Line Leader to support high-volume output, consistent product quality, and smooth day-to-day running of the production line. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a key area within a large-scale supply operation that services major UK retailers.
Responsibilities
✔ Team Leadership & Motivation
Lead, supervise, and inspire a small team of Production Operatives.
Allocate daily tasks, set expectations, and maintain high morale and engagement.
Act as the main point of contact for team guidance and performance support.
✔ Operational Line Control
Oversee the production line to ensure workflow runs smoothly throughout the shift.
Monitor productivity levels, resolve bottlenecks, and communicate issues promptly.
Coordinate with supervisors, warehouse teams, and other departments to maintain pace and efficiency.
✔ Quality, Safety & Compliance
Conduct regular checks on raw materials and finished goods to ensure all products meet strict quality specifications.
Maintain accurate and timely paperwork, including line check sheets, production logs, and compliance documents.
Uphold high levels of health & safety, ensuring SOPs are followed and risks are promptly reported.
✔ Continuous Improvement & Efficiency
Identify opportunities for operational improvements and waste reduction.
Support implementation of new production processes, layout changes, and workflow enhancements.
Monitor KPIs and drive initiatives that boost performance and output quality.
✔ Training & People Development
Deliver hands-on training for new starters and existing staff on SOPs, equipment use, safety practices, and quality requirements.
Encourage skills growth and support a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Line Leader, Team Leader, or Supervisor within production, FMCG, horticulture, food manufacturing, or similar fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively, delegate tasks, and maintain high performance standards.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and operational compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to lead and motivate.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and react quickly to changes.
- Strong eye for detail-able to spot quality issues and ensure all records are completed accurately.
- A proactive problem-solver who can work autonomously and take ownership of their area.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving working environment.
