We are currently recruiting a Production Operative to join a small, hardworking team at a fast-moving industrial site. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and efficiency.

The Role

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient sorting and handling of gas cylinders, including:

• Operating a sort stand to manage gas cylinder flow

• Using a 2.5-ton counterbalance FLT to unload cylinders and banks from vehicles

• Placing cylinders into dedicated bays

• Assisting Senior Plant Operators and the Facility Manager with day-to-day yard duties

• Carrying out general housekeeping tasks

The site operates under COMAH regulations and includes hazards such as gas, pressure, noise, and cryogenic materials, so a strong safety mindset is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate FLT and pallet trucks safely and efficiently (valid FLT licence required)

• Follow a safety-first / STOP for safety approach at all times

• Complete documentation for KPI reporting

• Comply with company policies and government regulations

• Maintain a clean and tidy working environment and report any repair needs

• Manual handling of gas cylinders, pallets, and straps

About You

• Valid counterbalance FLT licence (2.5T)

• Experience in chemical, mechanical, or related industries preferred

• Comfortable working in a unionised environment

• Physically fit with good health and eyesight

• Flexible, punctual, and willing to learn

• Able to manage your own workload effectively

• Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
