Sawston
3 Days Per Week | Starts Monday 13th
Are you an educator who values the "big questions" as much as the academic ones?
Do you have the empathy to lead vital conversations on wellbeing and the academic rigor to explore global faiths and ethics?
We are seeking a thoughtful, engaging, and highly professional PSHE & RE Teacher to join a well regarded Secondary School in Sawston. This part-time role (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) starts on Monday 13th April. This is a unique opportunity to shape the moral and social development of young people in a school that prides itself on its inclusive culture and holistic approach to education.
Your Cultural & Social Impact: Responsibilities
- RE Curriculum Delivery: Explore world religions, ethical dilemmas, and philosophy across Key Stage 3 and 4, fostering an environment of critical thinking and mutual respect.
- PSHE Advocacy: Lead essential sessions on mental health, relationships (RSE), British values, and career guidance, ensuring students have the "toolkit" for life beyond school.
- Safe Space Creation: Facilitate sensitive discussions with professional boundaries, ensuring every student feels heard and respected, regardless of their background or beliefs.
- Inclusive Resource Design: Adapt complex theological or social concepts into accessible, age-appropriate lessons that engage learners of all abilities.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain high standards of assessment in Religious Education, ensuring students are making measurable progress toward their learning targets.
- Pastoral Collaboration: Work closely with the wellbeing team and Year Leads to ensure PSHE content aligns with the current needs of the student body.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential. A background in Humanities, Philosophy, or Social Sciences is highly desirable.
- Subject Versatility: The ability to pivot between the structured academic requirements of RE and the fluid, discussion-based nature of PSHE.
- Exceptional Communication: The emotional intelligence to handle sensitive topics with maturity, humor, and unwavering professional standards.
- Part-Time Commitment: Consistency is key for these subjects; you must be able to commit to the Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday schedule.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one urgently through Randstad).
