Are you a Psychology Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of social scientists through a full academic cycle?
Can you break down the complexities of biopsychology, neuroplasticity, and research methods into engaging, exam-ready insights for A-Level students?
We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Psychology Teacher (QTS) for a pivotal one-year placement at a leading Secondary School in Huntingdon. Starting after Easter 2026 and running through to Easter 2027, this role involves full teaching responsibilities, including planning, preparation, and assessment for Key Stage 5. This is a rare opportunity to "own" your classes for a full year, providing the stability and expert tuition these students need to excel in their final examinations.
Your Strategic Impact: Responsibilities
- Full Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver the AQA (or equivalent) Psychology specification, covering core topics such as Social Influence, Memory, Psychopathology, and Issues & Debates.
- Specialist Research Methods: Lead high-level sessions on quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring students can confidently tackle the significant "Research Methods" portion of their exams.
- KS5 Exam Preparation: Provide rigorous training on 16-mark essay structures, evaluation skills (AO3), and application (AO2) to maximise student attainment.
- Inclusive Planning: Create differentiated resources that stretch high-ability learners while supporting those who find the statistical elements of the course more challenging.
- Data-Driven Progress: Conduct regular mock assessments and provide detailed, actionable feedback to ensure students are consistently hitting or exceeding their target grades.
- Departmental Contribution: Act as a core member of the Social Sciences faculty, attending parents' evenings and contributing to the wider academic life of the Huntingdon school community.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential. We need a practitioner with the pedagogical training to lead a Sixth Form classroom.
- Subject Expertise: A degree in Psychology or a closely related field, with a deep understanding of the A-Level curriculum.
- Commitment: The ability to commit to the school for the full year (After Easter to Easter) to ensure continuity for the students.
- Analytical Mindset: A passion for the "science" of Psychology-bringing real-world case studies and contemporary research into your teaching.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one urgently through Randstad).
