This position involves working with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, including Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), Complex Needs, and Neurodiversity. You will lead a classroom that prioritises functional life skills alongside academic achievement, ensuring every student has the tools to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Adaptation: Deliver a creative and highly modified curriculum that caters to individual learning pathways and sensory requirements.
- Progress Monitoring: Utilise small-step assessment frameworks to track and celebrate social, emotional, and academic milestones.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with Educational Psychologists, SALT (Speech and Language Therapy), and parents to fulfill EHCP requirements.
- Classroom Leadership: Manage and inspire a team of Support Assistants to ensure high-quality, 1:1 intervention and group support.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Proven experience in a SEND school or a mainstream setting with a strong focus on inclusion.
- A deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the ability to write and review EHCP targets.
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for advocating for pupils with additional needs.
