An exciting opportunity is available for a talented Science Teacher to join our partner Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. We are seeking a proactive educator who can inspire students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential opportunities for Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), if you are committed to academic excellence and student progress, this is the role for you. Please note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons that challenge and engage students of all abilities.
- Practical Learning: Lead safe and effective practical experiments that bring scientific theories to life in the classroom.
- Assessment & Tracking: Monitor student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to help learners achieve their predicted grades.
- Exam Preparation: Support Key Stage 4 students with GCSE preparation, focusing on exam techniques and core scientific principles.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters respect and a passion for STEM subjects.
- Collaboration: Contribute to the wider Science department through the sharing of best practices and participation in staff meetings.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- A degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Proven experience teaching Science across the secondary age range (KS3 & KS4).
- A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and current GCSE assessment criteria.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong rapport with students and colleagues.
- A commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of all young people.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
