An exceptional opportunity has opened for a Qualified Science Teacher to join a forward-thinking Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. This is a Full-Time role (long-term contract) where you will deliver high-quality Physics, Chemistry, and Biology lessons. We are looking for a teacher who can balance rigorous academic standards with an inclusive approach that makes Science accessible to every learner. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Dynamic Instruction: Plan and deliver an engaging Science curriculum for KS3 and KS4, ensuring students develop a deep understanding of scientific principles.
- Practical Learning: Lead safe and effective laboratory experiments that bring theoretical concepts to life and encourage hands-on discovery.
- Exam Excellence: Prepare Year 11 students for their GCSE examinations through targeted revision, mock assessments, and personalized feedback.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Differentiate lessons to support students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs or EAL.
- Collaborative Planning: Work alongside the Science faculty to share best practices, develop innovative resources, and contribute to departmental success.
- Academic Tracking: Monitor student progress meticulously, using data to inform interventions and ensure every pupil reaches their predicted grade.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
- A degree in a Science-related discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Proven experience teaching the UK Science curriculum at the Secondary level.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to foster a safe, respectful laboratory environment.
- Strong communication skills to build rapport with students and maintain professional ties with colleagues and parents.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
