The Assignment: Continuity and Excellence in Science
We are searching for a proactive and highly capable QTS Science Teacher to support a respected Secondary School in Cambridge on a temporary basis (e.g., covering a long-term gap, sickness, or secondment).
This post is crucial for safeguarding the students' academic progress. You will be responsible for planning and executing dynamic and well-structured Science lessons across the required key stages, focusing on practical skills and core scientific principles. Your contribution will ensure seamless educational delivery and maintain a culture of intellectual curiosity.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional Science lessons (potentially single or combined sciences), ensuring the curriculum is covered effectively and all students are challenged appropriately.
- Accurately evaluate student work and understanding, providing clear, constructive feedback that helps them advance in their scientific knowledge.
- Maintain an inspiring and safe classroom/laboratory environment, strictly adhering to health and safety procedures during practical work.
- Liaise professionally with department colleagues regarding materials, student needs, and any essential administrative duties associated with the role.
- Ensure full compliance with all school protocols, focusing on effective behaviour management and safeguarding throughout the duration of the contract.
Candidate Profile
- Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory, along with a relevant Science-related degree.
- Demonstrable success teaching Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is a prerequisite.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish positive working relationships with students and the existing staff team.
- A proactive, professional approach to supply/contract work, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
