An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Science Teacher to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Cambridge. This is a long-term, full-time placement where you will deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 for those with A-Level experience). We are looking for a teacher who can balance rigorous academic standards with an inclusive approach that makes complex scientific theories accessible to all learners. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is an essential requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Dynamic Instruction: Plan and deliver an engaging Science curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of scientific principles and the scientific method.
- Practical Learning: Lead safe, effective, and captivating laboratory experiments that bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.
- Exam Excellence: Prepare Year 11 students for their GCSE examinations through targeted revision sessions, mock assessments, and detailed feedback.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Differentiate lessons to support students of all abilities, ensuring that both high-attainers and those needing extra support reach their potential.
- Collaborative Innovation: Work alongside the Science faculty to share resources, develop new schemes of work, and contribute to the department's success.
- Progress Tracking: Meticulously monitor student data to inform interventions and ensure every pupil stays on track to meet or exceed their predicted grades.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is mandatory.
- A degree in a Science-related discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Proven experience teaching the UK Science curriculum within a Secondary setting.
- Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful laboratory environment.
- A proactive attitude toward professional development and a passion for staying current with scientific advancements.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
