We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a high-performing secondary school serving the Newport and Saffron Walden area. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a specialist who can deliver high-impact lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and facilitate engaging Science lessons that cover the breadth of the UK National Curriculum, ensuring students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
- Laboratory Leadership: Demonstrate and oversee safe, exciting experiments that bridge the gap between textbook theory and real-world application.
- Academic Achievement: Prepare Key Stage 4 students for their GCSE Triple or Combined Science exams through rigorous assessment, targeted feedback, and data-led interventions.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Differentiate your teaching methods to ensure Science is accessible and stimulating for learners of all abilities, from aspiring medics to those discovering the subject for the first time.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain an impeccably organised laboratory, strictly adhering to CLEAPSS and health and safety regulations to ensure a secure learning environment.
- Cross-Curricular Innovation: Collaborate with colleagues to promote STEM initiatives and help students see the vital links between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is mandatory.
- A relevant degree in a Scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Biomedical Science).
- Proven experience teaching Science within a UK Secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to safe laboratory practice.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and the wider school community.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
